Unique Stamps

 

With the advancement in technology of printing of postage stamps many postal administrations have come forward to bring out unique and unusual stamps. Here are few stamps, issued with some speical unique features. These are quite fascinating because of their special features.The first one is a stamp issued in a form of Souvenir Sheet, shown here, features Embroidered stamp depicting the Pigeon Orchid and was issued on 6 May 2009.It has 3 embroidered petals, fixed on the stamp. Souvenir Sheet and more details about Pigeon orchid is given below.The second is a Butterfly "Five-bar swordtail" from Malaysia. This is first of its kind which glows in dark.The third one is of UAE with real pearls embedded on stamps, first of its kind.. The stamps are known as pearl diving tools and were issued on 21.12.05 . There is a  FDC issued by Finland on 6.11.08. The stamp is transparent printed on plastic, First of its kind and is a Christmas stamp.The last one is a Silk Stamp, issued by Poland on 19 December 2008.

The stamp shown here is the beautiful stamp issued by Poland on 19 December 2008, to celebrate 450 years of the Polish Post 1558-2008 . This unique issue in the form of a stamp block printed on silk is the culmination of the celebrations of the 450th jubilee of the Polish Post. The stamp presents a horse messenger on the background of a Renaissance panorama of Krakow city (the end of the 16th century).
